Can Unstuffed Cabbage Soup be frozen? As there is just my husband and myself and this recipe makes a large amount, freezing would be great for us. Also, a great way to have fast meals ready to go.

      Hi Maureen!

We haven’t tried freezing this recipe. You can freeze it, but be aware that the cabbage will likely lose its texture and some might dissolve into the soup. If you give it a try, let us know how it goes!

I’ve been enjoying the quotes & sayings, I don’t use Facebook, & can’t save them to Pinterest. I was wondering if you could creat a Pinterest Board on your site for them. That would give access
& allow us to peruse all the great sayings. We could even back search ones from prior times, that suddenly acquire special new meanings to us. With hope you can make this happen, Thank You.

What happens if not enough liquid in slow cooker? ›

Not adding enough liquid can lead to burning.

"Liquid will evaporate during the slow-cooking process," Leung said. "It's important to add enough liquid to ensure the bottom of your dish doesn't burn."

How do you reduce liquid without overcooking? ›

Boil your liquid, then reduce heat to a simmer.

Heat the ingredient(s) until it reaches a boil, and then turn down the heat to a simmer. If you continue to boil your ingredients, it might burn or stick to the sides of the pan. Excess heat might also cause the sauce to reduce too quickly or leave it with a bitter taste.

How long can you leave soup in crockpot on low? ›

Stick to the cook time indicated on your recipe

Most slow cooker meals take 8-12 hours on low or 4-6 hours on high, but there are also recipes for slow-cooked meat that take up to 24 hours. If you want to avoid overcooking your dish, follow the given guidelines as closely as possible.

Can you overcook soup in a slow cooker? ›

"When a slow cooker is too full, it may not heat the food evenly," explains Leal. As a result, some parts of the dish may overcook, while others remain undercooked. "This can also increase the risk of foodborne illness, because the food might not reach a safe temperature throughout," she says.

How long is too long for slow cooker soup? ›

Recipes with meat like chili and pork shoulder are best when cooked for six hours minimum or up to ten hours. Vegetarian recipes are best cooked for around four hours, but can do a minimum of two hours or maximum of six hours (after which the vegetables start to get unpleasantly mushy).

Can you overcook cabbage in soup? ›

Yes, the cabbage is overcooked when it's very soft or pretty much falling apart in the soup. Just keep simmering until it's translucent and tender with a slight bite.

Why does my cabbage soup taste so bland? ›

Why is there so much liquid in my slow cooker? ›

Well, this is because the slow cooker lid sits on top of the pot all day long. The food gets hot and lets off steam. The steam hits the top of the lid and then all that condensation drips back down on top of the food.

How do you reduce something that is too watery? ›

Boil it a bit

This is known as “reducing,” in the culinary world, because you are reducing the sauce's volume by boiling some of the water off, leaving behind the fat and other tasty ingredients (with higher boiling points). If your sauce looks runny before it even hits your food, boil it for a bit to thicken it up.

How do you get rid of excess liquid in cooking? ›

Get rid of it with science! Let the excess liquid evaporate away by bringing the substance to a boil or a simmer until the desired consistency is reached. This method is great for sauces – including a quick pan sauce created after cooking a protein – and gravies that are only marginally looser than desired.
